I've also heard about the computer battery problem affecting some people, but wasn't the issue for me. But, you raise good points for others to consider. I've not posted continued problems with BD because I am just tired of dealing with it. It worked fine for a month or so, but then the last few months it has gone downhill with a new host of problems. A couple times a week it just stops working and gives me the grey box of death that vsserve.exe isn't working ... reboot. Grrr. Sometimes it doesn't automatically load on reboot - a new symptom the last couple weeks. I have reinstalled twice over the last couple months just to get it to work again - it seems to lose the ability to perform updates. And the last week, it "forgot" all of my custom scans so nothing was automatically scanned, and then last weekend it "remembered" them all again. I've just limped it along until I have time to find another solution. BD gave me an extra year free so I don't have to do anything now, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. First, he found out that he had on his computer installed a program(a desktop gadget) that was incompatible with BitDefender which caused a lot of issues. After solving that one he also changed the computer battery and after that everything worked just fine. The little setup guide they include with the disk and reg key in their bright red box was a little tooo nice sounding about all the customer service they promise ("24/7 !" ) via phone even. I will call them after I read your response. If I should ask anything specific let me know and Ill post on here or email you and tell you what they say. I am not tech savvy in anyway. Im a writer (arts and humanities at university all the way) even my reformatting was done by my brother before I reinstalled all dell drivers etc and finally the new bitdefender. Can you please tell me what I can do? any ideas. I am stuck with a 2 year key here and now am scared it will be out of service everynow and then after updates when I leave my comp unattended and on as I have to due to my work. Is there some sort of patch they have given you (Im only asking because I see your last entry is several days ago). after I reboot its back to normal. I read the all wise 'eidtors'' articles at pc today, pc advisor etc that bitdefender is waaaay better than mcafee. But Mcafee never shut its system on me!
